Usually we think of strong persons as those who go out with brute strength to conquer the challenges they face. Even if they have already faced defeat, they still raise themselves up to meet new challenges. Sometimes doing so means reaching inside themselves to find the strength necessary to face the burdens of daily living. But we too readily overlook other people; the quiet ones, the ones from whom we hear little or, if we hear anything, we hear it softly or tentatively. These people seem to go about their lives in more mysterious ways. Perhaps it is mysterious because it is different from the way some of the rest of us operate in the world. Yet these people are somehow able to exude a certain quiet confidence, the kind that comes with little fanfare or recognition. I am convinced that they are really the strongest among us. The prophet Isaiah understood this truth and acknowledged it. ( Quietness and confidence shall be your strength.. Isaiah 30:15) Somehow we must do the same. Ecclesiastes said it another way. He wrote, “The race is not to the swift nor the battle to the strong” Ecclesiastes 9:11....... From the book Sacred Intentions
